Team blog: game time….

Seriously? Is JOTA-JOTI about playing games on line?  Well, sometimes. In the form of a game, Scouts can experience new things in a playful and fun way. After all, BP had many educational games in his Scout programmes. So we followed in his footsteps and created a Game Zone. You find it in subcamp Antilope on the Jamboree map. Oh, right. You have not found the Jamboree map for JOTA-JOTI yet? Not to worry, it is here: www.world-jotajoti.info/jamboree-map .

So, what do I find in this game zone? First and foremost, our famous JamPuz game. More about that one in a later team blog. Then we have a completely new section with games from different regions around the globe. These are fun to discover other cultures. Try to taste a few of those, perhaps together with a Scout group from that particular region (over radio or internet connections).

Our specialty to challenge your Scouting skills, is the return of Sinbad. Scouts need orienteering skill with map and compass, extract important details from a story, use a radio and a smartphone together and decode a message. You will need all that you have available at a JOTA-JOTI weekend to help Sinbad find his lost items. Can you do that and crawl under the skin of special agent John Bont?

Check the Antilope subcamp on the camp and see if you dare take the challenge. Oh, by the way, you did get your Jamboree ticket, right? If not, quickly sign-up at the Main Gate on the map.

Have you got your entrance ticket yet?

You can now sign up for the 2018 JOTA-JOTI. The event will run just like any other World Jamboree, except you do not have to travel for this one. But you do need to get your Jamboree ticket by checking in at the main gate of the campsite. This week we opened the last two camp sites: the Museum and the Danger Zone.
Who else will be coming? Well, you can see already Scout groups from all over the globe making preparations. The JOTA-JOTI camp site is open, you can go and prepare your group. Don’t miss it !

CQ….CQ….

All you ever wanted to know about the Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) is now one mouse click away…

On the occasion of the 60th JOTA, the story of the JOTA has been updated. With new “old” materials that surfaced from archives.

Discover how the largest annual youth and amateur-radio event on earth started with a coffee meeting in a snack bar. How a visionary Scout leader carried the idea forward and the world embraced it.

And what about those radio waves that connect World Jamborees to the world, ever since 1957? Well no, that appeared to start 10 years earlier, in 1947. One of several new facts that seem almost forgotten, now surface in the new edition of “CQ Jamboree”.

Don’t miss it. Get your full-colour printed copy by following the link below. The printer service offers free shipping cost world-wide now. Use the reduction code “ONESHIP” (valid up to 6 September 2018).

New activity areas and subcamps are open!

We have opened up several new areas on the JOTA-JOTI campsite. Most of them are not completely finished yet but you can already have a look at what is coming to you next October.
Notably at the Global Development Village: it has all the materials for the 2018 theme “Life on Land”. And there is the ECO badge challenge there in the making. Check it out!
Have you signed up yet for the 2018 JOTA-JOTI? No? Then quickly go to the Main Gate on the Jamboree map: www.jotajoti.info/jamboree-map.

Get ready for the badge swap challenge.

The 2018 JOTA-JOTI Jamboree campsite will have an official badge swap area in one of the subcamps. You can swap badges electronically with other participants world-wide. How exactly, we will inform you later.
Start preparing: make a JOTA-JOTI badge design with your own group. It needs to be unique and have your group name on it. Use your creativity. Will your design be the “most wanted”? Make your design as a .jpg file, max size 1 Mb.
Sign up for the JOTA-JOTI event at the Main Gate of our website www.jotajoti.info/jamboree-map.
See you there!
