We launched a contest to design the official JOTA-JOTI logo for 2016 on 1 March. Entries were soon flooding in from around the world. A total of 300 entries were received, the vast majority of which were designed using software (you can view the designs here). It was clear from the quality of the designs received that many people had spent many hours of their time working on their design. Some people even found the time to submit more than one entry. We thank everyone that took the time and effort to submit an entry.
It was a difficult challenge to decide the winning design from the entries received. This was done through a series of stages, and involving a wide range of people within Scouting. On 10 June we announced the final six designs; each of these will receive a prize from World Scout Shops Limited and a Certificate from WOSM.
The winning design was submitted by Mark Tan Wengson, Chairman of Rover A Georgetown (South) Penang, Malaysia. We announced the winner on 15 June. The Facebook post announcing the winner has already been shared on over 500 Facebook accounts, and the announcement on Twitter has been re-tweeted over 50 times.
Our colleagues at World Scout Shops Limited are busy making badges featuring the new design. The badge will be available in three formats; a badge designed to be worn on uniform, a larger badge (12cm x 12cm) designed for campfire blankets, plus a small pin badge. We will announce through our social media accounts when you can place your order for badges. National Scout Organizations can request a national version of the badge with their country name, or Organization name on the badge (email for more info).
We hope that National Scout Organizations, and those running JOTA-JOTI events, with use the official logo to help promote JOTA-JOTI.
