For this activity you will need:
- Bluetooth Speaker
- Chairs
This activity requires a group of people. Follow the steps below to do the activity:
- Divide the participants into groups depending on the numbers.
- Have each group choose a theme (e.g., 80s disco, tropical vibes, cultural dances, afrobeats, bongo).
- Ask the groups to create a playlist that matches their theme.
- Each group leads the others in a 5-minute themed dance workout. The focus is on keeping the energy high and the movements dynamic to ensure a good workout filled with fun.
- Once each group is done leading, ask them to select volunteers to participate in the musical chairs game.
- Arrange a number of chairs in a circle, facing outward. The number of chairs should be one less than the number of players.
- Play music suggestions from the playlist while participants walk around the circle of chairs.
- When the music stops, players must quickly find and sit in one of the chairs. Since there is one fewer chair than the number of players, one person will be left standing.
- The player left standing without a chair is out of the game. One chair is removed from the circle for each subsequent round.
- Restart the music and continue until only one chair and two players remain. The player who sits in the last remaining chair wins the game.
- After the workout, everyone shares how the physical activity impacted their energy levels and mood. Discuss how exercise, even in the form of dance, can improve mental clarity, reduce stress, and increase happiness.
