Reflection Wall - Intereactive Barrier Mapping
Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges
Every National Scout Organization has its own way of making decisions. But let’s be honest: sometimes those structures feel more like locked doors than open invitations for young people. Rules, traditions, or even well-meaning adults can unintentionally stand in the way of youth leadership.
This activity is your chance to shine a light on those barriers—and more importantly, to imagine how to overcome them. On our interactive wall, you’ll name the obstacles you see in your NSO, then suggest small but powerful actions that could make a real difference.
It’s not about tearing systems down. It’s about making them work better—together. Because when youth and adults collaborate across generations, Scouting grows stronger, fairer, and more inspiring.
Ready to unlock the doors and build bridges? Join the activity and add your voice to the wall!
For this activity you will need:
- Internet connection
- Mobile phone, tablet or laptop
Think about your NSO – Where do young people face challenges in joining decision-making? (e.g. complex procedures, lack of information, adult resistance, cultural habits).
Add your post – Click the ➕ button and write a note or upload an icon/image. Be specific about the barrier.
Go one step further – For each barrier, suggest a micro-action that could reduce or remove it (e.g. mentoring systems, youth advisory boards, intergenerational workshops).
Look around & engage – Read others’ contributions, comment, and get inspired by solutions.
Together, let’s turn obstacles into opportunities and make intergenerational collaboration a lived reality in Scouting.
