Postcards from home
We are often asked "where are you from?"
What does that even mean?
This session is about personally reflecting on where you as a person come from, and sharing a picture to accompany your reflection. Anything from your present home, to your ancestral history, or simply what makes you feel at home.
Let´s share with the world and learn as a global community, where we all feel we come from.
1. Introduce the idea of belonging.
Many things can make us feel a sense of belonging. Places, sounds, smells, people etc. we all have our individual preferences.
Often we simply forget to put words to where we are from.
From whom do we descend? From where in the world? Have we migrated? These are relevant questions to obtain a more holistic understanding of each other, thus making our human connection stronger, ultimately creating ground for a more peaceful world.
2. Chose a photo or drawing
Participants need to choose a photo or create a drawing, that depicts something that means "this is where I am from" to them. They should upload this to the website.
3. Add text
Participants reflect on where they are from, and write down on the backside of the uploaded picture what it means to them.
4. Take a look at other postcards
Once all have uploaded a picture, and put in their text, they go and learn about their fellow Scouts, and get new knowledge about how diverse we all are.
5. Reflect
End with a collective reflection on what you learned from this activity.
